News Correspondent / Reporter Flex Time Freelance

The Fourth Estate is expanding our global news service in 2022/2023 and we are accepting resumes for Correspondents/Reporters to be part of a global vetted talent pool for possible future assignments.

The successful candidates will be able to cover breaking news across all categories of news.

• Research, write and report on assigned events.
• Be able to quickly break short wire service style stories and report with accuracy and skill under deadline pressure
• Conceptualize, develop and pursue original, standout exceptional enterprise journalism
• Ensure all reporting is factual and accurate and subscribes to our news values and principles.

Qualifications/Requirements

• A college degree is preferred. A journalism degree is not required
• be tech-savvy and well-informed on contemporary news gathering.
• at least three years of recent experience reporting breaking news in a professional news environment
• Strong ability to convey sometimes complex news and information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner
• Working knowledge of modern digital media technology, particularly content-management tools and systems
• Highly motivated, capable of working independently or in a team reporting environment

Location

These are remote positions and reports to our Washington, DC office, applicants anywhere in the world are encouraged to apply.

Compensation

Freelance compensation rates for the Correspondent / Reporter positions vary based on the applicant’s country of residence, and the nature of each assignment.
